This is one of the more annoying quests in the scepter chain. The fragments drop from the trash dragons around the dream portals, except in duskwood. Here you have to defeat the Twilight Corruptor, a raid boss in its own right. Also, like every other step in the chain, only one member can loot the fragments (I've seen a total of one drop, in about 10 dragons worth of trash clearing).

This is the most annoying part of the whole quest chain . a 'Treewarder' dropped the part in ashenvale. an 'Oracle' dropped in feralas ( you can solo pull them in feralas no need to fight with whole group). and a 'Bough-guard' dropped in hinterlands. ashenvale and feralas completed in less than 2 hours but get ready to farm in hinterlands more than 10 hours. Last object is in duskwood drops from Twilight Corruptor, killable with 7-8 people 100% drop rate.

The drop rate is about 1% for all three fragments that drop from dragonkin. Only one person can loot it and since they're classified as common there is no prompt when auto-looting so be careful.

I tried to solo the Twilight Corruptor in Duskwood on a disc priest, and I got the first 20% HP off him without too much problems. However, I ran into two issues: 1) it's possible for the boss to MC a priest when shadowfiend is out, causing him to reset. 2) He also reset several times after he knocked me on a tree branch or too far from his spawn spot. I tried to fix it by fighting him in the corner where he spawns, but even then he reset and evaded at some point. After an hour's try he reset again so I gave up... if it wasn't for the issues above it might be possible for a (patient) healer to get him.

just solo'd as a prot warrior in 264 gear

Long fight about 7 mins just rotated cooldowns enraged regen everytime it was up shield wall and last stand once and shield block up everytime off c/d the same with bloodrage/stoicism from the 4 pc bonus

I was actually thinking that this was the world boss but it dropped no loot so im assuming this boss only appears in the questline

I just soloed the Twilight Corrupter in Duskwood as an affliction lock. (raid spec) Do not use a pet as other posters have stated, it will cause him to MC you and reset his hp. Just drain life instead of spamming shadow bolt and you should be fine. I was in mostly 264/277 gear.

Very easy to solo as an 80 shadow priest. Make sure to have shadow protection on because he casts a debuff on you that reduces your stats by 100 and causes 800 shadow damage every 5 seconds. Just keep your Power Word: Shield up as much as you can and turn him so that he doesn't throw you too far, thus causing him to reset.

The Corrupter in Duskwood is a really easy and boring fight for a Prot paladin (lvl 80, 2t10, quite good geared but not end-game). I switched also SoLight with Vengeance for more damage, just the Judgement was enough to keep me full life.
Nothing special, as the loot, empty except the fragment. :(

Easy soloed Twilight Corrupter as enhancement shaman: simply cure yourself when needed. Don't use wolves, it causes the reset. The only drop was the quest item.

This is an ugly ugly fight for a death knight.

Hopefully you're blood spec because you'll need a lot of healing on this one. The secret, if there is one is to continuously interrupt his spellcasting with either Strangulate or Mind Freeze. If he charms you he'll get full strength back, which is really depressing when you've worked 10 minutes to get him down to 20%.

A funny thing happened to me. I fought him for so long he eventually just disappeared. Sigh.... The problem with this fight is that you can't pop your Raise Dead or Army of Dead without almost assuring yourself to get charmed, and then no matter how much you've knocked off he'll go back to full strength.

Ugly fight, ugly ugly ugly.

Just found a video, might be helpful for those hunters trying to solo it;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpQOq4OrnAk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpQOq4OrnAk

If you don't want to watch, here is the text. Props to the author;<div class=""quote"">Here is how it can be soloed with a hunter. I used some piece fo the Giantstalker set I had in my bank because it increases the range of Mend Pet by 50%, allowing me to easily stay out of range of the knockback & DoT. It also increases Mend Pet effectiveness by 10%, allowing to tick for almost 2500. I also used the ZG set neckpiece which reduced Feigh Death cooldown, as well as glyphs of Feign Death, and Mending. I let my pet do all the damage except for the very end, when I fired a kill shot to make sure I had loot rights. When I used Mend Pet I actually bound it to a macro that cast in the following order: Kill Command, Bestial Wrath, Mend Pet and Feign Death. If you don't cast Feign Death immediately after Mend Pet, you run the high risk of getting Mind Controlled and killing your pet. Enjoy!

He is bugged but its still possible to do as long as the primary agro target is in melee range.

This is made slightly more challenging with the knockback he seems to do every 12 seconds or so but with around 4-5 dps and either a sub rogue using shadowstep or a warlock using port you can keep somebody in range long enough to kill him.

We did this last night starting with just 3 people after him evading over and over we finally got a bunch of friends to come so we could just nuke him down before he could reset. He's a major pain and you have to kill him again for each person who is on the chain. To get him to respawn all you have to do is leave and come back up the path. He's only there for someone with the quest chain.

Confirmed bugged in 4.0.1. He will knock back but stay rooted in place by the fountain, causing him to frequently evade and reset to full health once he knocks you back. He seems to knock back every 15-20 seconds.

After several resets, I was able to figure out the pattern and solo him as a feral druid by feral charging in mid air as soon as the knock back happened. With feral charge on a 15 second cooldown, it was barely up each time knocked back, but it was enough to slowly burn him down.

Solo'd the twilight corrupter in Duskwood today as an ele shaman in mostly ICC 25 gear with the odd 277 piece. It was a 3 minute fight.

As posted here, do not use your pets, including any damaging totems (like searing). I didn't use any pets, but still threw down my searing during the first attempt, and that was enough to have me MC'd. once the MC broke I healed myself up and started attacking.

He is bugged (stuck in place) so you need to stand toe-to-toe with him and nuke. He never once knocked me back though, maybe blizz removed the knock-back instead of trying to fix the event? In any case... it was nuke, nuke, nuke, and heal to near full once down to about 3k health. Both his phsical and magic (shadow) attacks landed for between 700-900 damage. I did have healing stream and stoneskin totems out without issue.

Good luck!

Using Affliction spec without pet worked fine here as well, Haunt saved my life more than anything else.

- Extra Note - I didnt have time to do this boss as i was headed out the door, and when i came back the boss was was gone. However, he will respawn if you run out of the valley untill you get the pink whisper again.

Surprisingly, as a disc priest I was able to solo the Twilight Corrupter in Duskwood. He hits like a girl. Just used dots, and smite smite smite. I'm specced into Evangelism and Archangel so I was able to get mana back that way and ended the fight at full mana. Definitely took a while though.

About the pet and mind controll. I was able to use a succubus on this one to keep my soul link upp. Helped me alot! For some reason i wasnt mc with the succubus. I had it passive and used the les invi on her. The succu died once but with the new soulburn system i had it back up in no time. Used affli spec so with the heals from my spells i was able to take it down :)

Went to try and solo as hunter using the strat posted by Boshnak, however my pet could not attack as he kept evading and I could not kite as all my shots kept missing him. I ticketed a GM and got sent the fragment in the mail :).
