Trouble at the Docks

Crane Operator Bigglefuzz in Ratchet wants you to retrieve the bottle of 99-Year-Old Port from Mad Magglish who is hiding in the Wailing Caverns.
99-Year-Old Port

Description

Oops!

Had a little mishap, as you can see! The morning cargo shipment from Booty Bay was huge. Huge I say! Never seen so many crates. Well, I was trying to expedite things so I started unloading a bit more than I could handle. That's when everything came tumbling down.

Before I knew what was going on, I saw that menace, Mad Magglish, go running off with a bottle of 99-year-old port. Chased him all the way to Wailing Caverns. No way I was going in there.

Maybe you're brave enough to find him?

Reward

Also, you get: 10

Progress

The dockmaster has been on my case ever since Mad Magglish made off with that 99-year-old port. I guess that bottle was intended as a gift for Gazlowe from none other than Baron Revilgaz himself.

If you're brave enough and patient enough to seek out Mad Magglish and get that port back, I'll see to it you get a nice reward.

Completion

Superb! And just as I was about to lose my job too! I will see to it that Gazlowe gets this gift immediately.

Thank you, <name>. Nicely done, I say!

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 135 experience (8 10 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Ratchet

Mad Magglish isn't in Wailing caverns the instance, but he is in that same cave. He is in a dead end before you enter the final big room of the cave. You can jump down to him from a ledge, but be careful because there are stealthed raptors close to him.

Very easy to solo... He has 2 different spawn places ... One on the right of the firts lake and one on the left. He is stealthed but as long as ou are 18 + he stands out.

As of patch 2.3, Mad Mugglish isn't Elite any longer.

We found him, stealthed, in yet a third place: at the end of the first dead end to the right after entering the caverns, in the middle bar of what looks a little like the letter ""E"".

Did they change the spawn rate for this mob? I have checked all three locations while doing the Deviate Hide quest in the outer section of the instance and have yet to see him show.

Finally got him. He was in the + intersection at the very beginning, in the southern tip of the +, in a little nook in the wall. Took 35 minutes to find him.

Finally found him! after like an hour, he is somewhat a ghost so he wont attack you. He is at 52,55 and he is level 17, when you walk in there is somewhat of a dead end on the right.

FINALLY!!!

I found him in about 20 mins. He was stealthed in the most common spot in the dead end, I checked there multiple times I guess I just had to wait for him to spawn. Good Luck!

Finally found him after wandering around for nearly an hour. Sitting in the first right-hand nook as you enter straight through the cave. Easy kill once you've found him, but man is he irritating to try and find.

If you can't find him make a macro with:

/tar mad

and click it walking through the cave, you should find him within minutes at least!

if anyone is still having trouble finding him, like i was, go in the cave like your going to the instance, stop at the first ""small lake"" (NOT the one you swim in, stop at the FIRST one that you walk over) turn around and go straight back into the little nook in the wall, he's there, lvl 17 normal mob

and please mark this comment up if it helps you

I probably wouldn't have ever found him if not for the sound of some stealthed walking near you. I thought it was a raptor so I tried to find it and kill it so it couldn't ambush me, but it actually turned out to be Mad Magglish. You probably want to turn up your sound to hear the noise of stealth!

I've seen Mad Magglish in three different locations, both close to the entrance of the cave (not in the instance).

The most times I've seen him he's been at (52.0 , 55.4). This is if you turned right into the alcove instead of left towards the instances' entrance.

I've also seen him at (52.1 , 55.1). This is if you run straight ahead and drop off the small ledge.

The third place is (51.8 , 54.9). In his camping area, when you turn into the left path at the first pool of water.

Alliance Quests for Wailing Caverns

Since many people are trying out these low-level dungeons since the new dungeon tool appeared, perhaps for the first time, I thought it might be nice to make a summary of quests for WC for Alliance characters. Note that, for the Alliance, there isn't a quest for killing any of the bosses, although there is a quest triggered by a drop from the final boss.

Also note that since the mobs in the entry area (outside of the actual instance) are not elite, three of the four quests can be completed without actually grouping or entering the instance, as long as you're a high enough level to handle these non-elite mobs. On the other hand, since many people will be zoning directly in to the instance using the new tool, it's important to note that three of the four can be completed in the instance itself.
  1. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1487 Deviate Eradication - This is the only quest that actually requires entering the instance. The questgiver is located in the little cave above the entrance to Wailing Caverns. Follow the quest link for instructions on how to get into that cave. There are no pre-requisites to getting this quest.
  2. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1486 Deviate Hides - Also obtained from the cave outside WC. This quest can be completed either inside or outside the instance. Again, there is no pre-requisite for this quest.
  3. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1491 Smart Drinks - Obtained in Ratchet. There is a pre-requisite quest, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=865 Raptor Horns, given by the same questgiver, and which can be completed fairly quickly without leaving The Barrens. This quest (Smart Drinks) also can be completed either inside or outside the instance.
  4. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=959 Trouble at the Docks - This quest is obtained in Ratchet. The target NPC is in the entry area for WC and thus outside the instance itself, meaning that while this quest can be completed without entering the instance, it's the only one of these four that cannot be completed if you zone in using the new dungeon tool.
In addition to these, there is one other quest that can be picked up within the instance. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=6981 The Glowing Shard is picked up by a drop from the final boss of WC, https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3654 Mutanus the Devourer. This eventually leads to another quest which finishes (for Alliance characters) in Darnassus.
