Red Raptor Nest [Raptor Feather]

Description

Now, <name>, the hunt deepens. Now you must defeat your prey, and then find your way to its lair.

Hunt the sunscale raptors to the south. Slay them and remove the feathers they wear. Place the feathers on the scytheclaw nests southwest of the Stagnant Oasis. Show their brethren you do not fear them!

Reward

Also, you get: 9

Progress

Have you been to the nests, <name>?

Completion

Is your task finished? Ponder the life of the Scytheclaw as you do it. There are important lessons within every creature's lifespawn.

Some of the others believe I have been too heavy handed in my lesson. I know that you are simply following my orders, but I want you to consider the life of the creatures you are slaughtering.

Though they are at times a nuisance, they only become threatening when we seek their slaughter. This days defilement will cause us more trouble than it will solve problems...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 125 experience (7 50 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Orgrimmar

You need Sunscale Feathers in order to touch the nests. These are dropped by Sunscale Scytheclaws (raptors) that are around the nest area.

You can find the mobs for Sunscale Feathers here:
https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5165 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5165

Looks like focusing on Sunscale Scytheclaws will get you the feathers fastest. :) I found a bunch by walking southeast of the nest (none were around it, probably killed earlier) toward Northwatch Hold.

And btw, its 1 feather per nest, so you only need 3 in all and not 3 per nest.

Just a note, if doing this quest in a group, only one person needs feathers. When they use the nest, everyone in the group should get credit.

The raptors around the area for the Stolen Silver quest had a very good drop rate whenever I've done this quest. I saw 4 feathers drop in 1 clear last time {myself and my husband}. Also, be aware, there is a short cooldown on using the nests/feathers so watch out for repops if someone cleared the area before you.

For those that dont have CO-ORDS,

Leave crossroads heading south,
Just before you get to the new canyon the nests are in the last hills on your left hand side.

this was one of the most tedius quests in the game as the yellow nest ended up being in a tricky spot. it's actually not in the den as i would define it, but on top of one of the western hills surrounding the den. if you don't know this and don't have a coordinate mod, you might spend a lot of time rekilling lizards and refeathering other colored nests just in case, as the completed nests you already put a feather in soon reglow. this is something they should fix as normally glowing or sparkling unique quest targets (unique colors in this case) permanantly stop glowing or sparkling once you've completed that target. see submitted screenshot.

This took me forever to find! Even with the instructions given here, it didn't steer me right to the yellow nest.

Yellow nest directions:

When you arrive at the opening, just left of the large bull totem pole, you DO NOT enter the small valley where the other nests are. You fight your way up the rocky ledge to the right, until you come to a nest at the top. (It is on the WEST side of the mount if you're looking at the map.)

Just a heads up. If you by any chance have any https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5165 Sunscale Feathers left in your inventory when you are done with the quest, do not throw them away before turning the quest in. This will abandon the quest. Even though the feathers them selves are not needed for the turn in.
