Echeyakee

Bring Echeyakee's Hide to Sergra Darkthorn at the Crossroads.
Echeyakee's Hide
Provided Item:
Horn of Echeyakee

Description

Whitemist, Echeyakee in the Tauren tongue, is the king of the savannah cats. He hunts with such stealth, they say he's like a thin, white mist on the earth. And he kills so fast his prey have no time for fear, or pain.

The Tauren say he is both mercy and death.

You will learn if that's true, for I now set you on the path to hunt Echeyakee. His lair is northeast of the Crossroads, among the bones of giant Kodo

Go. Blow this horn when you reach his lair. Blow the horn, and he will come.

Reward

The following spell will be cast on you:
Echeyakee's Grace

Progress

The great cat calls to you, <name>.

Completion

You've beaten Echeyakee, and though his days of hunting are over... his spirit is with you. He will show you the strength found in subtlety, and the honor in mercy.

Your path is still long, <class>. Let's hope you stride it well.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 145 experience (8 70 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Orgrimmar

Easy quest....go to Grol'dom Farm and head north east a bit until you get to the pile of animal bones.....then go blow your horn. Be aware that area is littered with Huntresses.

Not quite hard one, take the road leading north of crossroads, then turn right and go behind the Grol'dom farm and you'll see a bunch of bones, stand near the bones and blow the horn. The lion will come alone and you wont aggro the other lions if you are far away from em'...... as in you dont aggro just cuz you summoned the boss.

he's at 55,18 there are 2 huntress lion and they respawn very fast.. so kill only 1 of them (because if u kill the 2 lions the respawn together in 5 or 6 sec) then use the horn and pull echeyakee away from the lions, then kill him... its a good pet for hunter..
its at lvl 16 non elite... at the place u can see animals bones---&gt; there u can use the horn to summon the cat

If your in a group and the other person uses his horn then you can actually keep your horn after the quest is over, good if you didn't tame him the frist time or if you just want to kill him agin.(Also if you have a friend who is an Ally friend who wants this beauty. :D Happy Hunting!

When someone else is already fighting the tiger, don't blow the horn. Else the qst will bug and you have to abandon it to get a new horn. (consumable horn....whoever invented that :s)

To the night elf who wants echey, if you are not on a pvp server ( where you can only have one faction per account)
Then level up a horde toon to 13-14. It does not take long.
Once you have the quest, take your NE and park her/him at
the spot where you will summon echey with your horde toon.

Once you summon, log out and then log in your NE.
You can tame from the rock above the lair. Echey will still be there unless someone kills him. In that case abandon and take again.
Of course, if you have 2 accounts, you can do it that way.

If all else fails and you are on a PvP server, then go to your realm forums and place a post asking if anyone on horde side can help you.
Since all classes can get the quest, you may have some good
luck.
I know I have the quest open on my BE on shadow council an and I used it to tame him for my BE hunter.
I also have the quest open on my horde shaman for the
Sian-Rotam, who is the same skin cat, but level 60.
I kept it open ( did not complete it) so that I could summon the cat for Elsah,my dwarf hunter.
That cat is now 70 and still beautiful.
I have done (begun) the quest for other hunters who want the cat.

Then there is humar! You know I used to see a lot of him, but now I don't as much.
Same cat, but all black.

To those suggesting that alliance post on forums asking for horde to help them out, if on a pvp server:

Another easy way would be to setup a trial account and create a horde on the same server as you.

Log both accounts once you have the quest &amp; summon the cat, tame it, and then do whatever you want. Even gank your own character if you like.

A long way round of doing it but still, its another option for you.

I dunno about this one bein' so easy. The respawn rate of the surrounding mobs is friggin' ridiculous! My lvl 15 shammy knocked out 3 prowlers, looted them, and then had to beat down another that spawned amongst their corpses just as i put the horn to my lips to blow! Killed him and Echeyakee, then as I turned towards the road, a newly spawned prowler slapped me dead from behind. Be careful and eat your food and drink your potions!

Now, like an idiot, I didn't read the quest log, so when I moused over the horn and it said to blow it at his lair, I was expecting a cave enterence or something.. No, it's a cluster of bones on the ground.. Coordinates by the original commenter are accurate..

@bulomaz, he's not a rarespawn.. you get a horn to summon him when you take the quest.

The other mobs do respawn within seconds, so clearing the area seems rather pointless. However, climb the hill next to the lair, just a little bit. It gets you out of the mobs' way and allows you to keep an eye on them. Wait for the patrolling one to pass, summon Echeyakee and kill him. At this point I was attacked by another mob, but my mage didn't mind fighting one mob at a time.

After the Shattering, this quest has changed. Now you can ""slay OR subdue"" Echeyakee... meaning young hunters wanting their white lion pet will be able to kill two birds with one stone! I tested this myself while working on Loremaster on my 80, and yes, taming Echeyakee will give you credit for the quest. :)

I actually completed this quest while standing on the skull and tame beast'ing him. The tame went to 100%, he evaded it in the end, but I still got the credit for the subdual. Still had to jump down and tame him properly to get him as a pet, though. ;)

He is indeed at 44,47. The ""lair"" is merely verbiage....lol, I spent hours this morning looking for a blasted cave in the mountain. I must have killed 150 huntress lions just ambling around looking for a ""lair"" to appear. I made my level 19 just killing those stupid cats.

I finally got to where I was blowing that stupid horn all over the area, killing lions, blowing horn, yada. I then found this forum and found out he could be tamed...w00t, I am in. I am superior elite kitty cat killar now, I felt comfy enough to stable my boar and give taming this big guy a try.

Again with the searching around all over the place (killing lions left and right), I even climbed dreadmist mountain to look at the place from a distance to see if I was missing it. I was frustrated and went *inside* the bones to give myself a break, and blew the horn there....poof, there he is, tearing me up, along with his kitty lady pals...I tamed, and subdued him, then I died...ROFL.

I raced back, and he was still subdued, and I tried to tame, but got killed again and he was gone when I got back the second time. I abandoned the quest, and went back and accepted it again.

Learning from my mistakes, I killed the huntresses, raced to the bones and put my back to the mountain and blew the horn. He just appears, all flowing like, and to see him coming visible is really a pretty sight! I hit the taming again and subdued him again, of course, he killed me again...LMAO! I raced back, made sure he was highlighted first, then accepted the resurrection and hit him with taming. I was so freaked out, I just kept hitting the button....and wow..I got him! He wasn't happy during the whole taming thing, and beat the krap out of me again to demonstrate it. But, I lived, and that made it count ;)

I still can't believe it. He's a pretty cool looking kitty, all grey and looking so different from all the vivid, bright colors of everything here. He can do that stealth mode thingy pretty nicely, too! He is actually lower leveled than my boar is, so we are gonna spend some time together killing krap ;). I hope it won't take too long to level him up to par.

The quest text was re-written after the Shattering to suggest that taming him would give you credit for the quest. However, they seem to have changed the quest itself back again. When I did the quest yesterday on my Orc hunter, I didn't get quest credit for taming Echeyakee.

It's possible that I just didn't wait long enough for the quest completion credit to show up-- but I probably waited half a minute or more while we killed some of the quickly-spawning lionesses. Then I blew the horn again, and fought Echeyakee with my new white lion pet. It wasn't until I killed him that I got credit for the quest.

Either way, it's no big deal, just wanted people to know what to expect.

He is a beautiful cat, and make me wish I had a hunter instead of a rogue. Alas, mayby next time.

He does spawn at 44 47, then runs to the bones at 45 47.8. Since i vanished immediately after blowing my horn, he couldn't see me when he got to the bones. He actually looked confused and looked all around trying to find me -- rofl. Easy kill, what a waste!

https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3475 Fellow hunters

As an hunter addict i always prefer not to complete this quest and stand able to summon this epic pet whenever i want.

Just dont accept https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=881 quest from X-roads.

Move to Ratchet instead and grab this https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=14066 quest
Doing this you can avoid 1st 2nd and 3rd parts of the chain. No good rewards at all.

Now you can safely continue questline without finishing 1st step and loosing https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=10327 Horn of Echeyakee forever.

Dont forget to abandon quest after taming https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3475 him.

Longest of the long shots :)

Keep on mind that it will only be there during 5.3. Most probably it will go back to its common location on 5.4 again.

I went to call Echeeyakee, and his old lair was replaced with a Kodo Corral, part of the latest enhancements. Blizz moved Echeeyakee's Lair (the bones that marked it) to a new location about 200 meters NE from where it used to be. New location is just to the right of a mountain at 47.8, 44.0, NW of the intersection of the Gold Road and the road to Far Watch Post. (There's a guard tower at that intersection.) The bones are there, just like before .. and it doesn't seem to have a bunch of lions hanging around like it used to. I just called Echeeyakee, everything is working fine.
