Mor'zul Bloodbringer

Speak with Mor'zul Bloodbringer in the Burning Steppes.

Description

<name>, your delvings into the dark arts are deep. Your mastery over otherworldly denizens has grown so strong... perhaps you are ready to bind to you one of the infamous dreadsteeds.

The ritual to summon the beast from its home requires great power and resources, but if you desire to dominate that epic mount, then speak with Mor'zul Bloodbringer. He is camped near the Altar of Storms in the Burning Steppes.

Go, <name>. This quest will be perilous, but a Warlock of your stature does not shy from danger!

Completion

Greetings, <name>, and welcome. Are you here to study near the Altar of Storms as I am, perhaps to harness its energy for some hidden purpose...

Or... are you here to speak with me? Yes, I believe you are.

You want to master a dreadsteed? Such is no easy task. It will cost you no small amounts of blood, sweat... and of course gold. But a dreadsteed of Xoroth is a prize well worth winning so if interested, listen on...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 62.5 experience (3 75 at max. level)

Demon trainer functions have been removed, they're still there though

You can still do this quest if you like, I just got the dreadsteed. And I feel like I deserve it too :D

You even get https://vanillawowdb.com/?achievement=2357 an achievement for it too!

As of 3.2.0, the requirement for this quest hasn't been lowered - I don't even see a gray exclamation mark at lvl46. It will be interesting to find out what they did with this chain, since nobody will do it now that you can learn Dreadsteed at 40.

You don't need to compleet the quest anymore to get the mount.
just learn it from a warlock trainer once you got the riding skill for it

A word to the wise for people that are still leveling and thinking about doing these quests. Do them. I am level 72 and the quests in this chain are granting me as much XP as quests in Northrend. Well worth it in my opinion.

PART 1

Save Hearth in Dalaran and have it free.

From Dalaran...

Take the portal to Stormwind, go to the Auction House and buy all needed supplies:
1 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=12360 Arcanite Bar
3 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=15416 Black Dragonscale
2 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9264 Elixir of Shadow Power
6 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=14344 Large Brilliant Shard
25 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=11370 Dark Iron Ore
Also have at least 406g in your pocket.

From SW, FLY to Morgan's Vigil in Burning Steppes and take the road far to the west to the quest NPCs.

Get QUESTS https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7563 Rage of Blood and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7623 Lord Banehollow. BUY potions from the goblin for 6g.

HEARTH back to Dalaran and take the portal to Darnassus. From Rut'theran Village, FLY to Talonbranch Glade in Felwood. Run south to Jaedenar, drink potion and go all the way back into Shadow Hold, as far as you can go. Do the bidding of Lord Banehollow, BUY the stardust from his orc minion for 150g. Run out of Shadow Hold and south to Emerald Sanctuary. FLY to Winterspring.

In Winterspring, go north east from Everlook to find the highest concentration of Owlbeasts. Kill for quest item.

HEARTH back to Dalaran and take portal to Stormwind, FLY to Burning Steppes and turn in quests.

PART 2

Talk to the NPCs until you have the next 4 QUESTS: https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7629 Imp Delivery, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7626 Bell of Dethmoora, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7627 Wheel of the Black March, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7628 Doomsday Candle. Here is where those supplies you bought earlier come in. From there, go north to Thorium Point in Searing Gorge. FLY to Chillwind Camp, Western Plaguelands and head to Scholomance.

Inside Scholo: go past that first room and through the door. Go down the stairs to the LEFT and straight to the next door into the Chamber of Summoning. Go to the back of that room and through the door. Turn LEFT again and go through that room toward The Great Ossuary and all the way back, down the stairs. Kill the miniboss https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11622 Rattlegore for the KEY to the next area.

Go back up through The Great Ossuary and turn RIGHT and head through that door. Go RIGHT again and use your key on the door you see there. Then you will be in a large room (The Viewing Room) with a bunch of neutral NPCs. Go to the BACK RIGHT of that room, down the stairs into the room you need for the quest. In this room is the boss https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10508 Ras Frostwhisper. The Alchemy Lab you need is in the right corner of the room after you enter (or looking at the map, top left). Kill those mobs, and release your Imp in a Jar. He will do his thing and the quest is complete.

HEARTH back to Dalaran and take portal to Stormwind, FLY to Burning Steppes and turn in the 4 quests. Get the next quest, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7630 Arcanite and turn it in. The goblin now has all of the items you crafted for sale. Get the final quest: https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7631 Dreadsteed of Xoroth.

BUY J'eevee's Jar (150g), A Black Lodestone (50g), and Xorothian Glyphs (50g) from the goblin.

PART 3 - Dire Maul

Before heading to Dire Maul, make sure you have plenty of soul shards. If you are level 80, you won't be able to get any inside the instance.

From there, go north to Thorium Point and FLY to Menethil Harbor, Wetlands. Take the boat to Theramore Isle. From Theramore, FLY to Feathermoon Stronghold and run to Dire Maul.

For those who don't know, here is how this section of Dire Maul works: Dire Maul East and North are connected through a Library (a ""safe"" zone with a merchant and some neutral NPCs). You can go through DM East OR North, but for the purposes of this quest it's more convenient to go through DM East. The main boss, and the area you need to get to, is covered by a huge, impenetrable dome. In order to get inside you need to shatter the 5 wards that are placed throughout DM East. These wards are obvious, huge blue crystals with some arcane elementals around them. You kill the elementals and the ward shatters.

When you go inside you see the FIRST ward immediately. Kill the elementals and move on ahead. Ahead, you will see a large ramp going down to a large tree boss, but do not go that way yet. Instead, go to the right, through the doorway, up the ramp there. There are the SECOND and THIRD wards on this upper level. Destroy them, go back down to the tree boss (killing him is optional) and through the door there.

Next is a long hallway that leads to the final chamber. On either side of this chamber are the FOURTH and FIFTH wards that you need to break. Destroy them and the barrier is down. Kill https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11496 Immol'thar. If you are NOT a skinner, kill him off to the side, or else his body will be on the location you need to use for the Summoning.

PART 4 - The Summoning

When you are ready, use J'eevee's Jar. He will come out and set up the bell, the wheel, and the candle (the instruments of empowerment). Now the fun starts... You will see 2 glowing pink circles, one inside the other, with the 3 instruments in the center. After J'eevee has placed the instruments down, the Circle will begin it's empowerment cycle. During the empowerment, many demons spawn on the outer edges of Immol'thar's prison. Wait for them to come to the center. Do not leave the center of the circle. Occasionally, you may notice that one of the instruments (bell, candle, wheel) has fallen. You simply right click it, and you use the Black Lodestone to repair it. This requires a soul shard. It is a cast spell and can be interrupted if you are hit. If you have trouble seeing if you need to repair, just mouse over the instruments occasionally. If you see the cog-wheel, you need to repair it.

During this whole event, you may notice small runes appearing in between the inner and outer circle. These are the runes of empowerment, and they appear all around the circle. When they are complete, the event is over. Keep repairing the instruments (I noticed the candle got broken most often), and killing the demons until it's over. There are some shiny graphics and the demons you are fighting are recalled back to Xoroth and disappear. The Circle is now empowered and you can use your Xorothian Glyphs to summon the dreadsteed. Kill the dreadsteed, and the quest is complete.

BUT WAIT! There's one more thing to do! The dreadsteed's master, Hel'nurath appears. Finish him off, talk to the Dreadsteed Spirit to complete your quest, and enjoy your Feat of Strength.

Note: Do not think you can do this quest at level 40 when you can train the mount. -_-

I got excited thinking I could finally do the Epic mount quest and get my achievement only to have foolishly picked up the wrong quest in my excitement to get out to Burning Steps and realize so.

Careful, this quest will still appear if you buy the mount, and you will be able to turn it in, but It will not let you move forward in the quest chain.

This was very frustrating for me when I found this out.

I already have my dreadsteed without the quest. Does that mean this is from an old patch?

Still in game as of patch 4.0.3a. Just got it on my level 60 warlock, from the trainer in SW. There is no NPC (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=14436 Mor'zul Bloodbringer) to turn it in anymore tho, so it cannot be completed and has no follow-up. It's also removed from quest log upon logout (but can be reacquired from the trainer). Clearly a bug, leftover from before The Shattering which was supposed to remove it.
