To get there, head right when you enter the city, and follow the road to The Drag. Keep on going. Do not turn off the road; the fire is at the end. You can't miss it ^_^

I had trouble with this quest since there is a 5 second period in which you can't get hit with a lot of Horde around. What I found worked best was to go around the back side of the fire and sit on the top of the edge of the tent. If you're on the edge, you'll be close enough to loot and usually people won't notice you (or at least won't hit you) before you get your item.

You'll know you got what you need when you get the ""Flame of Ogrimmar"" (which is an item which will give you credit for the quest- it will appear in your inventory).

I found that the building behind the fire was especially useful for hiding after I rezzed and needed somewhere to hide and heal. There's some tagged NPC's on the first floor but the 2nd floor seemed empty.

I would recommend doing this at an early/late time of day, mainly because you'll be facing a lot less Horde then you would at peak hours. Of course, if you're a paladin you can simply run in, bubble, and grab it, but you still have to fight your way out! ; )

This is a pain in teh rear to do as an alliance player, I am a level 55 paladin and going in the main entrancce is/waas suicide .... expect a large repair bill unless you are doing this overly early or overly late in the day as said above, the two routes are the main entrance or the west entrance .... both will have guards both will have players so its a gamble either way.

Best of luck the reward is worth it!

The cast timer along with many others in game is now one second, instead of 5. That makes this so much easier and you should not have to worry about horde attacking you interrupting your cast.

For an easy second attempt, jump down on to the tent next to the flame from the road above. You can loot the flame with no risk of interruption from the guards!

Using the tent is an extremely viable strategy for alliance who are struggling to get the flame.

My problem was that there was a substantial amount of horde camping the flame. After 4 unsuccessful attempts on ground level, I tried the tent method and not only stole the fire, but got halfway into an astral recall before I was spotted.

By far the harder Flame to get a hold off at lower levels. Going by the ""back"" entrace you have to get by about 12 lvl 75 guards, nastily placed. Took me 6 deaths before I managed to grab the flames, compared to 1-2 deaths in the other 3 cities (at lvl 58).

I find the easiest way for a WotLK ally to get to Org is to hitch a ride on the zep from Warsong hold in Borean Tundra, if you have your cold weather flying just land on the zep in the hold, you do not get dismounted and don't even get flagged for pvp (pve servers) just slowfall, parachute, skyguard cloak or whatever kind of slowfall you have at the gates of Org. Epic way to begin an Org raid too :) 40+ people parachuting off the horde zep and storming Org with the added what the ? where the ? how the ? touch.

To get to the top of the tent, circle around the building next to it, evading any NPCs or players if possible. Should be very easy for any rogue or druid. Don't forget to /LOL when you hearthstone :D

In Cataclysm, the Orgrimmar bonfire has moved to the ledge above Valley of Wisdom, right next to the circle of portals to Cataclysm zones. Flying in from Azshara is easy, just keep an eye on the patrolling guards.

The flame is just to the west of the portals - if you happen to get hit by a guard just run to the west till the guard falls off your tail. 4am server time and no hordies around

I did this as a Rogue, landed at the northern end of valley of wisdom behind the trees then stealth up to the bonfire, grab the flame and stealth out again, not even spotted :)

For those with Alliance alts under flying level, good luck. The Org flame is so hard to find, it took my BE Mage 15 minutes to find out how to get to it and she lives in Orgrimmar! Tried to find a way over the rocks from Azshara but no luck. If you do manage to get in, don't forget to do The Fishing Diplomat achievement as long as you're there.
