It wasn't that bad on Horde side doing this either. I just did it on my druid.

For both Stormwind and Ironforge it is advised to get to the tram as fast as possible. Dying your way through Ironforge front gates takes a long time. Stormwind was easy when I took the tram.

Stormwind you should navigate via the waterway. You shouldn't have too much trouble, plus you can sneak right up and out of sight of the majority of players who are guarding it. I just went from the tram to the nearest water and swam the whole way popping up and taking that flag.

Ironforge is straight forward, run and die. It took a lot of times dying to do that. Eventually you get there. I would take the tram and save a lot of deaths that way. There is one or two patrolling guards. They seem to both leave at the same time so it is easy to time it.

Darnassus is hard to tell. Sneaking played a big roll in me figuring it out. I snuck on the boat, and then snuck up to the fire. It's outside the town so it should be easy to get to. Hiding beneath the bridge is advisable, but make sure there are no guards walking on it first.

Last thing to be noted is that I got 4950exp from each flame I turned in and then another 4950 exp from getting the crown. A nice 20k exp benefit is a fairly good motivator for most people.

I hope this saves a few people some trouble. Good Luck to you all.

Ironforge's Flame was the hardest for me since there were Alliance in every corner. For those of you who are paladins, you can run up there on your mount dismount bubble and take the flame. For rogues, obvious, stealth through Ironforge and wait until there arent any alliance at the flame, or go behind the flame where the alliance can't see you then take it. There are 1 or 2 patrols that walk in aggro distance if you are behind the flame so heads up. The flame is in the Hall of Explorers, approximate coords are 64, 24

All the other classes will have a little more difficulty with this one if there are alot of alliance on your server. I say take off all your gear that has durability. Run straight through die next to the flame(you may die more than once getting to the flame) wait for the alliance to be in an area where you are not visible. Res next to the flame and take it.

The other flames are...

I did this quest at 9.30 in the morning and i ran into one person. I dont know if anyone is up at that hour but I did all four cities and ran into a total of three players. Easiest four quests of the season. :D

Rode hard in the main gate, feared the train behind me when I got to the bonfire, nabbed the flame, and ran into a hole to hearth. I think the key was hanging a right into the war quarter and then around before getting tinker town. Wider areas, thus fewer gaurds

I did this with my level 46 hunter and even though I kept getting killed, I still did it. :-) The only thing though, is that I didn't get the promised 5g 80s. I think I only got 80s. I wasn't too happy about that.

Here's what worked for me:

I ran at the bonfire and died. I then ghosted back and waited for the surrounding sadists to start doing torch throws or what not. Once they were busy I resurrected and stole the bonfire before getting slaughtered by several players.

You can fly in the front door (didn't find this out until after I died several times getting in the stupid stormwind tram, but you don't have to take it), when you fly in, STAY HIGH and watch out, theres flying guards on gryphons inside, you can fly above them just have to time it right and keep an eye out. I made it all the way in the Hall of explorers died once, you shouldn't have to if you dismount (not land) and drop in a better spot, as close to the fire as possible. Fear anyone close to you should give you enough time to grab the fire, you probably wont have enough time to get your mount or hearth out, before they come back and kill you.

Those Thief guards suck (I'm a Rogue) he detected me from miles away and while killing him was easily possible (was hitting for 6k) I just let him kill me then took the res sickness like an idiot, I should've ran back but then again he can detect from miles away so

Why did they add guards like this, pointless

I have to say, this flame was the most annoying of the four to get.

I flew my way to Ironforge (since I didn't know about the tram). I went in and went in the left doorway. Straight ahead on the floor is a passage that will cut through through the middle of Ironforge. I ended up dying since I got knocked off my flying mount. I ran back and ressed in a corner where I didn't pull the guard's argo. After that, I flew straight to the flame. You will die so make sure you get the flame in your bag. After that, just res from the Graveyard and you're good.

Oh, just to add something... If you're a Hunter, make sure you dismiss your pet. It made it a lot faster for me.

flew in there in my blood tank spec, had no idea where i was going, before i even spotted the flame, I get knocked off my mount, and where do I land? yup, right in the lava. about 5 mins go by as i kill off the two griffon guards beating on me while im in the lava. After swimming back and forth a couple of times, realizing that path of frost is not cutting it, i tried to mount up, and what do you know, it worked, dont ask me how but it did I flew out, flew around somemore, spotted the blue flame, landed, got the flame, one guards comes up and starts attacking me, then some npcs, I see a ne druid try and be all sneaky and tries to sneak up on me, dnd, i kill the guards, npcs, and chase him off, get him down to 25%, he was resto, chase him into more gaurds, die... what a little...

I just did the tram suggestion on my mage and it's a good one.

- Fly to Stormwind over the Dwarven District Area. The Tram is located

- Enter the Tram and either ride or run through it.

- At the IF side, exit the Tram instance. Mount up as soon as you are able.

- From the tram entrance, take a RIGHT and fly through Tinkertown to Hall of Explorers and don't stop.

- Drop down on the side of the bonfire closest to the hallway to the Great Forge. There are nonviolent festival NPC's there.

I only died twice. First time because of guards and there was a rogue that wouldn't share. *L*

Second time was by the guards and by then I had the flame (there were some other Alli players but they didn't care), so I just took the resurrection sickness and went to turn in my quest. :)

I did it as a level 69 mage. The trick for me was to stand on the NE side of the fire, otherwise there are 3 guards that will aggro and take you down before you can loot the flame. On the NE side there is only 1 guard and you should be able to take one hit and get the flame before you check out.

Just tried to steal Thunder Bluff's flame on my Alliance druid and was unable to get anything. Also tried on my Alliance mage, still unable to get anything. My druid did this last year no problem, but my mage has never had done this quest, so I'm not sure if it's bugged or what. Anyone else having a problem with the opposing faction's capital city flames?

Low level characters, don't give up! I just got the ""King of the Fire Festival"" achievement on my level 20 Orc Hunter. I was also given the crown reward in a follow-up quest from the same NPC where I turned it in. This took a lot of patience, especially with the Ironforge flame. The guards were ruthless. You will die ... a lot ... and quickly. Eventually, if you keep trying, you can accept resurrect and have JUST enough time to get the flame. You'll know you succeeded when you get an animated flame flash that surrounds your character.

The bad news: for the Ironforge flame, this took 40-50 attempts in two sessions, but you may be luckier than me. I also made a lot of miss-clicks along the way. Not that it probably mattered, but I finally stood sideways on the nearest side to the Great Forge. Zoom in or angle your camera so that you can left-click to resurrect, then immediately right click on the flame to start the one second grab for the flame. Usually, the guards will kill you before you can complete this action, but all it takes is one successful try!

There is no level requirement for this achievement... or for the final crowning reward. Great bank character gear! Good luck and great patience to everyone. You'll need it. Don't get upset, just try, try again.

Just did this as a 75 shadow priest.

Key to victory? https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=47585"">(Spell #47585)

You can loot the flame while dispersed. Your corpseruns will be more productive(you get further).

After looting(make sure you get the flame) take res sickness and hearth or continue getting flames. :)

You probably wont want to even bother with this on lower than 90 unless you can make yourself invulnerable, or have a decoy..

It was very easy to get in there though. First try we tried to just fly the normal ground mount paths but we were quickly knocked down and the long ghost run is just painful to shortstep... But then we realized, the flight paths have holes up in the ceiling. Just duck in under the main gate, go up the ceiling and there's a hole in the center. Next wall has one on the right/left side. Then you're in the main chamber and you can even go up the ceiling and rest a bit for the next step. Duck down into the hall of explorers and the fire is right there. The guards instakilled me but we died right next to the flame for the next bit..

The guards sit right next to it and pretty much instakilled me at lvl 83. I managed to get it by having a decoy luring the guards to one side long enough for me to loot it (operation human shield), but they got me shortly after that and the extremely long corpse run means that you'll want to res at the spirit healer..

Yet another achievement made frustrating by CRZ. Even late at night and in the wee hours of the morning I had to contend with multiple campers in addition to the guards, and managing to kill 2-4 players in glad gear just isn't in the cards for my main. They've been patrolling the Explorer's Hall all day, and at any given time there are always several 90s waiting for the chance to pounce. Every other city was a piece of cake, but this one was a nightmare. I already have the achievement on my account from another character thankfully, but I feel bad for the many people in my battlegroup who will basically never be able to do this again because no one is willing to group up for it and it's no longer possible solo.

Down and dirty version:

1. Fly into Ironforge, staying as close to the ceiling as possible and avoid the flying gryphon guards as best as you can.

2. Fly directly over the flame in Ironforge at 64,25.

3. Drop down on top of it.

4. Try to get it before you get killed. If you can do this without getting killed, either mount up or hearthstone. I got killed, directly on top of the flame. So if you're going to die, do it right on top of the flame, so you can rez nearby in seclusion.

5. I ghost walked from the spirit back to where I got killed. I found a nook behind a pillar at 66.1, 21.7 out of direct sight of guards. I rezzed, used lesser invisibilty potion, and walked back onto the flame. As soon as I clicked on the flame to start channeling, I decloaked and everyone jumped me. I am retribution paladin and tried to use https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=115750"">(Spell #115750), so if you have some sort of AOE stun that is key. There were still mobs jumping me. I just kept clicking on the flame until I didn't get interrupted long enough to grab it.

NOTE: Doing this and any of the capital city flame grabs will not show up onscreen, it will show up as a quest in your bag. So in order to make sure you got this, maybe keep your bags open on the side of your screen to see it show up.

6. Nothing left to do but get killed again.

7. Nothing left to do but get rezzed at the spirit, and then hearthstone to wherever. Deal with rez sickness and repair cost.

8. Open your bag, click the quest to start it, and turn it in wherever you are supposed to (a horde capital city I believe).

This was the most difficult one for me. The main issue is that there were SO MANY alliance players right around the fire. I was able to get in and out of the other alliance capitals without getting killed, but there weren't as many mobs and players to avoid / kill too. So it may be possible to do this without getting killed if you are on a low population server or if it's the right time of day / night / wee hours and there's not a giant mob of alliance players standing right there.

I have done the other three capital cities with little to no trouble on a level 8-14 blood elf paladin. (I leveled as I worked on all the flames.) Darnassus and Exodar were a piece of cake, even at level 8. Once you make your way to the flame, you can rez and grab it without anyone bothering you. In Stormwind and Ironforge, there are guards that instantly spawn and one-shot people, including a level 78 warrior who was with me. I managed to luck out and get SW, but I am standing here dead at the IF flame wondering if I should just give up, hoping a bunch of other horde will come in and distract the guards long enough for me to click. . . .It seems really unfair that two of the cities have no spawning guards but two do.
